History


The national memorial is a monument. It was built to commemorate the heroic struggles of the millions of martyrs who laid down their lives during the War of liberation in 1971. Plans for the monument were initiated right after the independence, in 1972. Following the site selection, road and land development, a nation-wide design competition was held in June, 1978.

Structure


The monument is composed of 7 isosceles triangular pyramid shaped structures, with the middle one being the tallest. The highest point of the monument is 150 feet. There is an artificial lake, and several mass graves in front of the main monument. National Martyrs' Memorial situated at Savar, about 35 km north-west of Dhaka.

Madhabkunda Waterfall The name highest waterfall of Bangladesh. It is the largest waterfall in Bangladesh. It situated (subdistrict) in Moulvi Bazar District, Sylhet Division. The waterfall is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Bangladesh. The height of the waterfall in Madhabkunda is 61m or 200ft.  It is about five km away from Dakshinbagh railway station on the Kulaura-Shabajpur track and 350 km from Dhaka. You can visit Madhabkunda by road or train from Dhaka and Chittagong. There are both AC and Non-AC buses available for Sylhet or Moulvibazar from Dhaka and Chittagong. From Sylhet and Moulvibazar public buses are available to go to Madhabkunda. Fall of a million tons of water height of 200 meters form. Big bolder of stones and black stones with green leafy trees and the sound of the waterfall is a form of care giving in Madhabkunda. The waterfall is one of the most attractive tourist spot in Bangladesh. Lots of tourists and picnic parties come to Madhabkunda every day for their enjoyment.

An attractive tourist place name is Cox’s Bazar. You will surely like the atmosphere there – though except the rainy season almost all the year the beach remains crowded but you will nevertheless have a nice experience there. You can also take a trip to the nearest island called the Saint Martin’s Island – which has an even better-looking beach than Cox’s Bazaar’s. If you’re looking for a smaller and less crowdie beach then you can opt for the Inani Beach which is also pretty nice . You should take a bus ride to Cox’s Bazar – the longest beach in the whole globe. Cox’s Bazar is the world’s largest natural sea beach which length is 125 kilometer. This town is also known as “Panowa” that means “yellow flower”. It is a district in the Chittagong division of Bangladesh near the border of Myanmar. This town is situated one hundred and fifty kilometer south of Chittagong main city. Miles of golden sands, surfing waves, rare conch shells,  towering cliffs, Buddhist temples & tribes, multi-colored pagodas delightful sea food are the main attraction of the  Cox’s Bazar, the tourist capital of this country.  In the 18th century, this tourism spot gained its name from British-Indian Captain Hiram Cox an officer of British East India Company. He died in 1799. But before his death, he did some social works here as the Superintendent of Palongkee outpost. His holy work made him a place in the hearts of the locals and this town was named after him as Cox’s Bazaar”.

The Shat Gambuj Mosque is a famous for its historical importance. It is our one of greatest mosques in Bangladesh in respect of its spectacular beauty. Saint Ulugh Khan Jahan who first carried the torch of Islam in the south made this magnificent mosque in Bagerhat, district in mid 15th century. This magnificent Monument is located on the eastern bank of a vast a sweet-water tank, clustered around by heavy foliage near the seacoast. The roof of the mosque is supported by 77 squat domes. The Shat Gambuj Mosque is one of the architectural manifestations of Bangladesh. Now it has become main attraction for tourist for its historical magnificence.

Saint Martin’s Island is a small island in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf peninsula. It is about 8 km west of the northwest bank of Myanmar at the aperture of the Naf River. Every year many tourists come to visit this beach from home and abroad. Welcome to Saint Martin’s Island. You can also take a trip to the nearest island called the Saint Martin’s Island – which has an even better-looking beach than Cox’s Bazaar’s. Saint Martin’s Island is a natural place of Bangladesh.
